Madeira, an island renowned for its natural beauty and deep connection to the ocean, continues to honour its maritime heritage through the MIUS – Madeira Island Ultra Swim. Organized by the Madeira Swimming Association, this open-water event is not merely a competition but a genuine celebration of the island’s culture and traditions. Since 2020, MIUS has established itself as one of the most challenging and captivating nautical events in the Atlantic, attracting elite swimmers and ocean enthusiasts worldwide.

MIUS offers participants a unique opportunity to push their limits, swimming in the crystal-clear waters off the southern coast of Madeira, where the island’s natural beauty merges with the vastness of the Atlantic.

Registration for MIUS 2024 is now open, and interested participants have until September 10th, 2024, to secure their place in this unique event.
Check-in will occur on September 13th, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM at the Secretariat located at Porto do Funchal – Terminal Cais 6.
The races are spread over two intense days of competition:
September 14th, 2024 (Saturday):
7.5K: Câmara de Lobos (Cais) > Cais da Cidade do Funchal (Pier)
Start: 9:00 AM (opening at 8:00 AM)
3.5K: Complexo Balnear do LIDO Poente > Cais da Cidade do Funchal (Pier)
Start: 10:30 AM (opening at 9:30 AM)
0.5K KIDS: Cais da Cidade, Funchal > Cais da Cidade do Funchal (Pier)
Start: 12:00 PM (opening at 11:00 AM)
September 15th, 2024 (Sunday):
10K: Câmara de Lobos (Cabo Girão) > Cais da Cidade do Funchal (Pier)
Start: 9:00 AM (opening at 8:00 AM)
5K: Doca do Cavacas > Cais da Cidade do Funchal (Pier)
Start: 10:00 AM (opening at 9:00 AM)
1.5K: Complexo Balnear da Barreirinha > Cais da Cidade do Funchal (Pier)
