Madeira Prepares to Host the World’s Elite in Canoeing
The stunning island of Madeira is set to host the 2024 ICF – Canoe Ocean Racing World Championships, the flagship event of the International Canoe Federation (ICF).
From October 4th to 6th, 2024, Madeira will become the global epicentre of ocean canoeing, in a competition that promises to attract the attention of athletes and enthusiasts from around the world.
A Natural Stage for Ocean Canoeing
Madeira, renowned for its natural beauty and unique conditions for water sports, has been selected for the first time as the venue for this world championship. The Atlantic waters surrounding the island offer the perfect setting for such a competition, where the world’s top canoeists will face the open sea’s currents and waves in a true test of endurance, skill, and bravery.
Schedule and Competitions
Registrations for this event are open and can be completed until September 24th, 2024. The competition will kick off on October 3rd with a short race that will serve as a warm-up for the three intense days that follow. From October 4th to 6th, the senior world titles will be contested in the men’s and women’s single surfski categories, alongside the thrilling mixed double surfski event.
